Selection

As an ability-based club, many hours are spent grading our teams. Many factors are then into account, to ensure that our players are able to play to their full potential. Below outlines our selection policy, including the grading of new players to the club.

TEAM SELECTION POLICY

Policy Overview The Rosellas Netball Club Selection Policy for Saturday team selection is based on ability and having balanced teams. Our aim is to attempt to give all players an opportunity to play in a competitive section that allows for growth and skill development. This means that players will be playing in teams with children that are older or younger.
The Rosellas Netball Club’s Objectives:
* To have as many children as possible playing and enjoying netball each week at an appropriate skill level.
* To develop players’ skills and knowledge of the game and actively encourage players to develop their skills through development opportunities provided internally and externally.
* To attempt to have balanced teams made up of children with similar abilities.
* Development and support of Coaches and Umpires.

TEAM SELECTION AND PLAYER GRADING

1. Rosellas Netball Club has a policy of grading players. Players are evaluated annually by the Selection Committee.
Selection Committee is comprised as follows
i. Independent External Consultant who is employed annually by the club to assess all eligible players and advise the executive committee on team composition.
ii. Committee elected representative who is the liaison with the independent external consultant
iii. Club President

2. Formal assessment and grading of players will occur annually near the end of the year or Spring Season. These results will be used for the following two seasons in assisting determining team structure.

3. Grading will be undertaken on all players entering their grade 3 year onwards. For the majority of players this allows two development years (Grade 1 – Net, Grade 2 – Set)

4. If you would like your child to play at a less competitive level then please contact the Club if he/she can be placed in a lower grade when grading is conducted.

5. Coaches are requested to complete a team and player review form annually to the selection committee.

6. Fees are to be paid prior to team selection to ensure players can be placed into a team. Fees are non-refundable. Players who have not paid fees or owe fees from prior seasons, will not be eligible for team selection.

7. New players entering mid season or mid year will be assessed and placed in a team at the executive committees discretion.

8. Only teams with a minimum of 7 players will be registered, the ideal number of players per team is 9.

9. Team selections are finalised several months before the next season starts to meet the registration requirements of the WNA.

10. Rosellas teams for the following season will be advised after completion of the current season at the discretion of the executive committee. Team selection decisions are final.

11. Any concerns or questions about the team allocation process must be submitted in writing via the clubs email account within 1 week of teams being released. The executive committee will review the feedback and respond to the email at their earliest convenience.

12. All coaches reports, independent evaluators assessments and committee discussions around teams and players are strictly confidential. Parents and guardians must not approach Committee members for information.

13. Sections are determined by the WNA and will be advised when available.

14. All queries relating to fees or team selection policy must be directed in writing to the Rosellas Netball Club Committee (rosellasnetball@gmail.com).
